No two breaths we take are the same. Watching our breaths rise and fall and pause in between can lead us down all inner pathways into our embodied selves and cells. The great spiritual traditions of breath practice all seem to agree on not forcing it. Our breath restrictions start melting when we attend to them kindly. As they melt, our fuller and easier breath brings us health. Much of our ease in breathing depends on how smoothly our diaphragms coordinate with other moving tissues that help our breathing process.

Much of our ease in breathing depends on how smoothly our diaphragms coordinate with other moving tissues that help our breathing process. How can we be more generous with allowing air to move from our nostrils to the branching lobes of our lungs? As we breathe we trade air pressure with the atmosphere, but we also exchange gases within our fluids across thin expandable membranes in our lungs. All our cells participate in breath, most of them through fluid.

  • What are our pathways between fluid and air?
  • What inner breathing can we encourage?
  • What possibilities of breath have we yet to explore?
  • These classes hope to explore these questions and be a breath of fresh air.
